Kevin Walsh has a wealth of experience within the Industry; having spent fifteen years at Apple as Executive Relations Manager and then seven years at AppleCare as Business Development Manager where he was instrumental in acquiring numerous large reseller accounts. Joining soon after the launch of CPU Group’s new iProtect Product, Kevin joins at the perfect moment to drive new business in this and other exciting CPU products.

CPU are proud to announce the release of MyGenieApp, a real-time management tool for our insurance services and where applicable, contribution collection services that form part of our 1:1 Learning programmes. MyGenieApp is multi-platform and is currently available for iOS and Android.


This move into the Mobile App Platform introduces a range of useful features and improvements to our existing services as well as opening the door to many new possibilities for our 1:1 programmes.

MyGenieApp Schools Menu

The app has been developed for schools administrators managing a CPU 1:1 Learning programme and also parents and students who are currently participating in a programme. Some of the main features include:

  • Schools
    • Advanced Direct Debit Management features including monthly summaries and real-time notifications for bounced collections, allowing issues to be identified and resolved as soon as they arise
    • A simplified claims approval system, reducing claims administration to a simple checkbox
    • Claims tracking to keep users updated on all current claims or review previous claims
  • Parents and Students
    • Collection summaries and contribution balances to check the status of contributions at any time
    • Make new insurance claims and track existing claims
    • Make payments towards contributions via CPU's credit/debit card facility

07/11/2014 - Performance Tools for Genie Released

A new performance tools section in Genie has been released to enable manufacturer, reseller, finance and school user accounts to review, analyse and track the performance of their 1:1 Learning Programmes.

The initial release includes tools to show data on:
  • Claim resolution times - See at a glance how long it takes for a claim to be resolved. Each claim can be expanded to see every step that took place during the repair/replacement process
  • Claims dashboard providing informative claim statistics such as number of claims, types of claims, location of damage etc, all presented in easy to read tables, graphs and charts
  • For manufacturer, reseller and finance users only, a new quote report system has been added allowing you to filter your quotes by a variety of search criteria and export the results in an Excel report

It's been a busy couple of months negotiating and developing our systems to provide a more flexible insurance engine but CPU are now pleased to announce the introduction of a monthly insurance rating system.

This means that payment terms / insurance terms can now be set 12, 13, 14... right up to 36 months allowing a whole new level of flexibility to your 1-2-1 Learning programmes.

To compliment this new release we have also re-worked our school portal system, making setting up school portals easier than ever. For Genie users, more information on how this system works can be found from your login by going to Help > Offers > Adding Offers to a School Portal. If you currently have a portal running, don't panic! This update does not affect the old offer system which will remain available until all current portals are closed.

CPU are pleased to announce the release of the Toshiba Learning Technology programme, Freedom Learning. The following is from the Toshiba UK website:

London, United Kingdom, 22nd January 2014: Toshiba UK today announces the Freedom Learning programme for the education sector, intended to reduce the complexity of purchasing and insuring mobile devices for schools and parents, while also providing new business opportunities for Toshiba resellers. Launched in association with CPU Group Ltd and Arkle Finance Ltd, Freedom Learning is a management platform designed to facilitate the acquisition process for Toshiba laptops and tablets by providing one simple and secure portal for ordering, leasing, insuring and the arranging of parental contributions for products. Repairs, on-line claims management and direct debit reporting are also accessed through the portal for a streamlined service.

The programme aims to simplify the acquisition and financing of mobile devices so that schools can integrate laptops and tablets as part of day-to-day learning. Parental contributions also allow schools to offer a CYOD (choose your own device) policy and provide students with a device that aligns with their individual needs. The insurance element of the initiative offers both parties peace of mind through asset protection.

“We’re delighted to launch Freedom Learning at a time when technology is playing an increasingly integral and beneficial role in the classroom,” said Jeff Willis, Business Solutions Director Toshiba Europe. “The programme allows authorised resellers to set-up product offers and grants schools access to a range of leasing and insurance options, all through a single platform. The aim is to make laptop and tablet technology more accessible to today’s primary and secondary school pupils, making digital learning part of the education process.”

The Freedom Learning portal will also act as a simple and effective way for select Toshiba education partners to interact with new and existing customers within the education sector and streamline the acquisition process.

“Freedom Learning was developed as a further initiative to support our partners operating within the education sector. The easy-to-use platform enables and encourages schools to process orders from Toshiba approved resellers, creating a stronger and more mutually-beneficial relationship,” added Willis.

The Freedom Learning portal is managed by CPU Group Ltd., as are the insurance service options offered on the platform. Schools, parents and resellers are provided with their own unique and secure access to manage each part of the order process securely. This provides simple administration for all parties via a single portal, greatly simplifying the entire process. The leasing options are provided by Arkle Finance Ltd.

Cash Book Information and Guide

The Genie Cash Book feature allows a school to take cash or cheque payments directly at the school and then reconcile them against the contribution balances within Genie.
